| Claire's Farewell Feast! |
| Some of the food at the feast. |
With the stress of trying to find a new home, the thought of my roommate heading off on her European adventure and moving offices from beautiful Covent Garden all the way to bustling (and terribly busy) St Paul's, I can most definitely say that it has been a hectic week or so! So hectic in fact that I've completely forgotten about blogging altogether. Not to mention, I've forgotten to let people know that I am thinking of moving houses.
In the midst of all of this business, we farewelled a housemate from the Chilled Rd gang. Claire was headed back home to Brisbane (which left me as the only Brisbanite in the house) to finish off her degree and find a job either abroad or back in Aus. Therefore the ritual stands that Chilled Rd had to say goodbye in a manner that included Bucks Fizz and pancakes! We all decided upon breakfast on a Sunday morning. As you can see in the photo above it was honestly a feast! There was a heap of bacon, pancakes, sausages wrapped in bacon, mango, strawberries, nutella, eggs, croissants, wine, OJ and plenty more to fill our stomaches with. Unfortunately in a house with such an extraordinary amount of people there will never be a time where you can say goodbye to everyone all at once therefore a few missed out on the feast but I'm absolutely sure leftovers were available to them (I was stuck on the couch in a food coma).
Once this farewell concluded I had to begin to navigate my new route to the St Paul's office for Monday morning. It wasn't that different to the Covent Garden office, except for the commute which was substantially more sweaty and cramped. However the surroundings were fantastic! I was surrounded by a CBD area that was full of international food places, many fashion shops (that I probably could never afford to buy from) and of course St Paul's Cathedral itself. It wasn't the most convenient place to work during what was suspected to have been a heatwave in London (28 - 32 degrees Celsius). The only reason for this is because it was a highly professional place and every woman and man had to come dressed the part. I'm talking suits, ties, pencil skirts and shirts. It was horrendous to have to wear all of that in the heat and I can't even imagine how the men felt!
With the heatwave partially over and the dress sense becoming a little more casual, I hope to do well in my new job tomorrow. You'll hear about this and my new house very soon!
