A Sad Goodbye

The first friendly face that I met after stepping off of my 24 hour flight from Brisbane to London was a lovely person named Madelene.  Although her main purpose of meeting me was to simply divert her attention from a slightly annoying man, she had no idea that we were destined to be roomies in our new house in Tooting.  While Tooting, three storeys high, was bustling with a bunch of new friendly faces both Madz and I were in a square box of a room sleeping half a metre from each other. Living and breathing each others daily routines for a good five months there simply wasn't anyone else that could be closer to me.  Both of us had our fair share of tears due to workplace frustrations and simple unfortunate events.  However we also knew exactly when to comfort each other with cuddles and many seasons of tv series.  Unfortunately it wasn't long until Maddie's feet wanted to walk the depths and breadths of Europe itself, so we parted ways before either of us could be too sad about it.  With Madz wandering through Europe and myself moving into a new house on the opposite side of town, we both had things to focus on.

The calendar pages have flown since moving from Tooting and unfortunately it's Maddie's time to fly back home and leave her London life behind her.  To help her celebrate the goodness of London itself, Madz and I headed on over to the Emirates airline to enjoy one last view of London from above.  With the sun perfectly situated in the sky, we enjoyed a slow lift up over the Thames with a gorgeous little addition of the O2.

Soon enough the sun was setting and the weather was cooling down.  Of course, we had to catch one last glimpse of Maddie's favourite place - Brick Lane.  As a tradition we made our way to Liverpool Street to photograph a tonne of wonderfully painted walls in the area.  After snapping pictures of a bunch of walls we strolled on through to wherever the smells of spices and curries would take us.  We ended up finding a beautiful Indian/Moroccan stall which sold the most delicious wraps and food (I honestly can't remember what the name was of what we ate but here's a picture anyway).

After stuffing our bellies with a concoction of deliciousness we both struggled through the crowds of people to check out some more random products of Shoreditch.  An hour and a milkshake later, it was time to part ways.  Although I'm seeing Maddie at the airport tomorrow to say goodbye, today was our absolute last day in London and I'm so glad I got to spend it with her.  I honestly have no idea how I'll be able to cope without this crazy, awesome lady.

Madz if you're reading this, thank you for putting up with my miserable self and thank you so much for all of the cuddles.  You helped cure my homesickness and kept me smiling when I thought I couldn't.  You helped inspire me to follow my passions and you ate tonnes of cake with me even though you and I both knew the consequences.  Madelene, you deserve the very best in life and if you don't get it keep on going until you get it.  Well that's it, there's a few tears so I'm going to have to stop typing here.  I'm going to miss you but good luck with your future endeavours and enjoy every moment.  THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU x
