Happy Chinese New Year!

Every time I sit down to type for my blog, I somehow always start my post off by apologising for being so lax with the regularity of posts.  Fortunately, I've realised that I have absolutely zero schedule to run by and therefore I should really stop apologising!  I guess it's just in my nature... anyway...

I snapped some pretty beautiful shots this weekend, some of which I want to share with you guys.  On Saturday I decided to journey on over to Greenwich to check out the markets and of course the Royal Observatory.  Sadly the weather that day was extremely true to England's reputation for an overcast, dull climate.  Therefore the photos weren't exactly amazing.  On the plus side though, I checked out the Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition which was by far much more exquisite than the weather itself.  In fact, why am I even relating the two?  Never mind the weather, if you're a Londoner like myself then you should definitely go and check out this free exhibition; the photography is on par with the most amazing sight you've ever seen (actually, it's probably better - but anyway, GO AND SEE IT).

After my visit to Greenwich, I took the "space train" (DLR) back to Bank station and then went on to Borough Markets once more (yes, I've been more times than I can even count on my fingers).  Borough Markets are my absolute favourite food markets in the world.  They actually sell everything you could imagine and more!  This time though, I didn't go to munch my way through cheese samples and giant cookies... instead I went to take a few photographs.  After about 10 minutes though, I realised why I dislike London again - crowds.  Gosh, if I could have London without the crowds I would be overwhelmingly content.

Someone is a little greedy...

Ooooh meringues, DELISH!                      These tart things are scrumptious

After a day of disappointing weather and photographing mounds of food, I headed home to order an Indian take-away (it seems I've turned into a Brit) and watch some good ol' netflix.  The next day I woke to the sun rising and the clouds clearing to reveal a perfectly clear, blue sky - A perfect day to celebrate the Chinese New Year!  I arrived in Chinatown nice and early so I could snap some pictures with half empty streets rather than the extraordinary crowds that they became later on in the day.  I honestly wish I could portray the atmosphere through my photography because this celebration was exceptional.  There were mini firecrackers exploding every second of the day, Chinese dragons in every second pair of hands I saw and sheep masks on nearly everyone's faces.

Just one of the many costumes I saw at the celebrations

These last two are just my arty farty photos.... Hope you like them :)

Hope you enjoyed this post everyone!  Make sure you subscribe to my emails so you're personally updated whenever I post something to my blog.  Oh and if you like my blog, let me know... I would love hear from you.  Have a good day/evening everyone!
