A Learning Experience

What a week!  Many museums were visited and once again too much food was consumed.  There was pizza and dinosaur bones, historical paintings and rotating mirrors and so much more.  The best part was the immense amount of learning that was done over the weekend.  I guess I'll just get straight into it...

Natural History Museum

I'm currently annoyed with myself because I didn't capture any pictures of the massive half metre pizza that my roommate, Anna, and I ate last Friday.  Oh and when I say annoyed, I mean really annoyed as it was Anna's first Friday off in so long that we decided to have a girly night in.  We bought ice-cream, chocolate and pizza and frankly that pizza is one of the best pizza's I've tasted in a while.  While we slowly ate our way into food comas, we sat and watched a couple of wonderful movies - About Time and It's Complicated.  Seriously, anyone looking to have a wonderful, lazy night in should definitely consider all of the above (it honestly felt like being back at home with my Mum and my sister).  Once my food coma had worn off, I slowly but surely went to bed.  The next day I arose with the sun and switched straight into tourist mode for the museums I was about to stroll through.

Exploring the beginnings of Earth is just up the
escalator and through this magnificent planet

The first museum on the itinerary was the Natural History Museum.  I'm just going to start with how beautiful the exterior is for this stunning museum.  The coloured stone/bricks are just spectacular.  It somehow reminds you that you're about to walk into a modern but at the same time, very old museum.  Much of the museum was generally exciting and perfectly set out for children however I don't think any museum could top my favourite museum/place which is of course the California Academy of Sciences.

Raphael Gallery at the V&A Museum.
The next stop on the itinerary was the V&A where I witnessed something pretty exciting.  Due to the fact that the weekend fell during the design festival, there were many random events happening around town.  One of those events included the rotating mirrors in the Raphael Gallery in the V&A Museum!  It was pretty spectacular when these huge half cylindrical shaped boulders covered in mirror glass just constantly flipped and turned while all of the gallery viewers were busy observing the many historical paintings around the edge of the room.

Many more events occurred on the weekend but at the moment I'm falling asleep at the keyboard so I'll leave it here and make sure I blog sometime mid-week.  Thanks again for taking the time to read my weekly updates!  Make sure you share the love with your friends and I'll catch up with you all very soon.
